Terms of Use
Effective date: 1 October 2026
GetGreek is operated by Alexander Malnev, an individual developer established in Cyprus (“we”, “us”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and us about your use of the GetGreek iPhone app (the “App”) and the website getgreek.app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
1. Who can use GetGreek
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service and to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from your parent or legal guardian.
2. Your account
You can create an account with an email address and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. Your account is personal: don’t share your login or Premium access with others, and don’t sell or transfer your account. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the App (Profile → Delete account).
3. The App licence
The App is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms add to the Standard EULA and set the rules for using the Service, your account and subscriptions. You may use the Service only for your own non-commercial learning. You must also comply with any third-party agreements that apply when you use the App, such as your mobile data plan.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the App’s content (including words, translations, audio, images, lessons and articles), except for your own personal study;
- reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with the App, our servers or other users’ access;
- create accounts automatically or use the Service to send spam or malicious content;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or submit content that is illegal, offensive or infringes someone else’s rights.
5. Content you send us
You may send us feedback, word or language suggestions and attached images. You keep ownership of what you send, and you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use, copy, adapt and include it in the Service, and to let our service providers do so on our behalf. You confirm that you have the right to send it to us. We may review, edit, reject or delete anything you send, and we’re not obliged to use it or respond to it.
6. Free and Premium features
GetGreek is free to download. Some features, such as unlimited vocabulary, premium training modes and premium articles, require a paid GetGreek Premium subscription. We may change which features are free or Premium, and we may add, change or remove features and content. Where the law requires it, we’ll inform you of changes that significantly affect your paid subscription.
7. Subscriptions and billing
- Purchased through Apple. Subscriptions are bought and billed through your Apple ID and are subject to Apple’s terms. Prices are shown in the App before you buy and may vary by country.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each subscription period (for example, monthly or yearly) at the then-current price unless you cancel before renewal. Apple may charge for the renewal shortly before the current period ends, so cancel in good time.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, your subscription starts when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the current paid period. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel the subscription.
- Offers and codes. Free trials, introductory prices and offer codes are redeemed through Apple, may have eligibility rules (for example, one free trial per Apple ID) and have no cash value.
- Family Sharing. If Family Sharing is available for a subscription, members of your Apple family group may use Premium under Apple’s rules.
- Refunds. All payments are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). We can’t issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, your statutory right of withdrawal for App Store purchases is exercised through Apple.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, Apple will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent.
8. Our content and intellectual property
The Service and its content, including vocabulary lists, translations, exercises, lessons, articles, audio, images, software, design and the GetGreek name and logo, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for your right to use the App and the Service as described in section 3, these Terms don’t give you any rights to them.
9. Learning content
The Service is a learning aid. Language is complex, and our words, translations, transcriptions, audio, grammar tables and explanations may contain errors or be incomplete. We don’t guarantee that content is accurate, complete or up to date, or that using the Service will lead to any particular result, exam score or level of fluency. Don’t rely on the Service where accuracy is critical, such as for official, legal, medical or professional translations.
10. Availability, changes and discontinuation
We may update, change, suspend or stop any part of the Service at any time.
Temporary unavailability. We don’t promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free. In particular:
- Internet connection required. The App loads words, lessons and your progress from our servers, so it needs an internet connection. It doesn’t work offline.
- Maintenance and updates. We may make the Service temporarily unavailable to maintain, update or secure it.
- Unplanned outages. The Service may be interrupted by technical problems, failures at our hosting or other service providers, problems with Apple’s or Google’s services (such as sign-in, notifications or purchases), or other events outside our reasonable control.
- Lost progress. If the connection or our servers fail during a session, results that haven’t reached our servers yet may be lost.
- Your subscription. Interruptions don’t extend or reduce your subscription period, and we don’t offer credits or compensation for them, except where the law requires it.
If we discontinue GetGreek. We may decide to shut down the Service entirely. If we do:
- Notice. We’ll announce it in the App or on getgreek.app at least 31 days before the Service stops.
- No new charges. From the day we announce it, we’ll remove all subscriptions from sale in the App Store. No one can start a new subscription or free trial, and existing subscriptions stop renewing automatically, so you won’t be charged again.
- Paid periods. Premium will keep working until the end of the subscription period you had already paid for when we made the announcement.
- Refunds. If the Service has to stop before a paid period ends, any refund is handled through Apple, in line with Apple’s terms and applicable law.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or restrict your access to the Service, if you break these Terms, if we reasonably believe it’s needed to protect the Service, us or other users, or if the law requires us to. Sections 5, 8, 9 and 12 to 16 continue to apply after termination.
12. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and non-infringement. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for loss of data, progress, profits, revenue, opportunity or goodwill;
- we are not liable for losses caused by your device, your internet connection, third-party services (including Apple and Google), events outside our reasonable control, or your breach of these Terms;
- our total liability to you for all claims related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or intent where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep the statutory rights that apply to you, and these Terms don’t affect them.
14. Your responsibility for misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses and reasonable costs that we incur as a direct result of your intentional or unlawful misuse of the Service, or your infringement of a third party’s rights through content you submit.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in the courts there.
16. General
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent allowed, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we don’t give it up.
- Assignment. We may transfer these Terms to a successor (for example, in a sale of the App or our business). You may not transfer your rights under these Terms.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Standard EULA, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll change the effective date above and, for changes that significantly affect you, inform you in the App or on getgreek.app before they take effect. If you don’t agree, stop using the Service, cancel your subscription and delete your account. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
